Awards for Green Tourism

Since the Green Tourism Business Scheme was first introduced to the Island approximately two years ago, fourteen business have now signed up to the GTBS scheme with many more registering an interest in the scheme. During the first round of assessments Mincarlo Guest House received Scilly’s first Gold award setting the standard and highlighting what can achieved within Scilly businesses to build a more sustainable tourist industry.

At the beginning of May this year, the second round of assessments took place with assessors visiting a number of Island Businesses. Results of the assessments have just been announced with many of the businesses signed up receiving awards. This is a fantastic result for Scilly, raising awareness of sustainable and responsible tourism. The following businesses have achieved the awards outlined below:

Other members of the scheme are awaiting grading or advisory visits.  Members can expect to enjoy benefits which include free promotion on the GTBS and South West Tourism websites and free and subsidised joining fees viagra polen. The project has recently received recognition by Island Tourism who agreed at their last AGM to support the scheme, whilst Natural England has endorsed the project by granting funding to the Isles of Scilly AONB to support and promote the project. The AONB unit invites businesses to sign up to take advantage of the benefits of membership whilst contributing to making a more Sustainable Scilly.
