Big Beach Clean at Porth Hellick

Porth Hellick Beach on St Mary’s gets a clean up as local volunteers help turn the tide on litter.

The Isles of Scilly AONB Unit along with volunteers helped clean 21kg of rubbish from Porth Hellick Beach, St Mary’s on Saturday 17th September as part of the Marine Conservation Societies ‘Big Beach Watch Weekend’. This data will help the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) identify the main sources of litter washed up on Scilly’s beaches and keep the issues of the dangers of marine litter on the local agenda.

The AONB Unit would like to thank all those who volunteered their time in helping.
