The Isles of Scilly AONB Partnership
Statutory responsibility for care of the AONB designation resides with the Council of the Isles of Scilly. However, a broad range of partner organisations are represented on the AONB's Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) which steers the work of the AONB Unit, especially through the development and implementation of an AONB Management Plan.

The Council of the Isles of Scilly is a unitary authority with the powers of a District and County Council. The 21-member council is responsible for a range of services including education, housing, waste management, fire services, highways, environmental health, planning, social services, tourism, coastal defences, sea fisheries, economic development and emergency planning.
Created in 1337 by Edward III for his son Edward, the Black Prince, The Duchy of Cornwall is one of the largest and oldest landed estates in Britain. The Duke of Cornwall is, by charter, the eldest surviving son of the monarch, and heir to the throne. Acts of Parliament regulate the Duchy to ensure its efficient running. The majority of the Isles of Scilly are owned by the Duchy and leased to individuals under a range of tenancy agreements.
English Heritage is the Government's lead body and official adviser for the historic environment in England, responsible for the protection of the country's best historic buildings, landscapes and archaeological sites.
Natural England's remit is to conserve and enhance the natural environment, for its intrinsic value, for people’s wellbeing and enjoyment, and for the economic prosperity which results. A much fuller account of Natural England’s ethos and strategic aims is available here.

Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust cares for the wildlife sites that make up 60% of the landmass of Scilly and includes all of the uninhabited islands, islets and rocks and most of the coastal fringes on the inhabited islands of St. Mary’s, St. Agnes, Bryher and St. Martin’s.
There are 47 Local Wildlife Trusts across the UK with 765,00 members, we are the largest UK voluntary organisation dedicated to conserving the full range of the UK’s habitats and species, whether they be in the countryside, in cities or at sea.
The National Farmers' Union is a nationwide organisation which represents and protects the interests of farmers and growers in all aspects of farming. Members of the Isles of Scilly branch of the NFU and other farmers and growers manage much of the land within the islands.
Tresco Estate is the trading name of the Island of Tresco, leased by the Dorrien-Smith family and their ancestors since 1834.
The RSPB is the largest conservation charity in Europe that speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. In Scilly, the RSPB works with various organisations and land managers to protect and enhance the internationally-important seabird populations, and to promote the respect and enjoyment of the islands special wildlife. The RSPB relies on memberships and donations to fund their work.
