Scilly's Big Star Count 2012!

The local community of the Isles of Scilly were invited to take part in the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) Big Star Count 2012. Between the 20th-27th Janaury, CPRE asked people to count the number of stars within the constellation, Orion. This event allowed everyone to become involved in studying and recording their local dark night skies.

Pushing the Boundaries!

This AONB Champion Project, which gained funding from the Isles of Scilly Local Action Group (LAG), aims to unlock the economic, cultural and educational potential of Scilly's traditional stone walls and to understand how they can be maintained, and where possible, restored .

AONB Unit Beach Cleans with the Five Islands' School Green Team

The AONB Unit are working closely with the Five Islands' School Green Team in developing a programme of beach cleans, with the aim of clearing rubbish of every beach in St Mary's!

SDF Awards for 2011-2012

The Isles of Scilly AONB Partnership are pleased to announce that so far, £29,388 has been awarded to seven projects through the Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) 2011-2012.

The Isles of Scilly Seabird Recovery Project

The RSPB, Natural England and the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust have in collaboration with New Zealand based firm, Wildlife Management International (WMI), produced a summary report to assess the feasibility of rat removal across the Isles of Scilly. This report forms part of the Isles of Scilly Seabird Recovery Project.
